I have written some (hopefully) reusable code that anyone can setup to turn a their Google spreadsheet into an online gradebook. I find a spreadsheet is far superior to all of the fancy schmancy spreadsheets available to teachers online. However, what the online gradebooks have over an oldschool spreadsheet is the fact that students and parents can check their grades from home and get a reasonable accurate idea of their current grade.
You can fix this with the code I have posted below. Just create a google site and add a web app to it. Create a new web app and post the code from my github. You have to change the key, and sheet name in the ‘Code.gs’ file to match your own spreadsheet. Should I write a more detailed tutorial? Probably not since nobody reads this.
and here it is in action… https://sites.google.com/a/isev.k12.tr/jrhea/gradebook
It isn’t super pretty, but it works. I am severely lacking in the creative department. If you should so happen to see this post, how can I improve the visuals? I thought about adding avatars for the students, and maybe adding some modal box elements, but then it becomes less of a simple solution…
